Dear Community!
From today on, our pro and founding members have the chance to export their blogs as pdf on a monthly or yearly basis. This is a very complex feature, which we think is great, but not yet fully developed. Therefore, we ask our pro and founding members to test this pdf-export feature and give us feedback about what’s good or what has to be improved.
At this time, it is only possible to export an entire month or a whole year. We will soon offer a feature for the export of one or more posts.
This is an pfd-example of „the.blog.co.uk” from this year:
http://data3.blog.de/media/599/2109599_41ff6ff1ea_d.pdf
The feature is a little hidden. You will find it on the archive pages directly on your blog as far as the archive feature is enabled (only for the export of a whole year so far) and also in the blog settings within the section ”edit” at the right side in the box ”archives”. We are already looking for a better spot to place this feature.
Have fun testing the new pdf-export feature.
Your TeamUK

This sounds great, excellent idea :-)
Hi,
If this works, it will be greatly appreciated...took me ages to download the other months about six weeks ago, so this is very useful...thanks...cheers,
jenray
This would be a great option to have.
I've just been trying it.
Most of my posts are private / friends only and it only appears to pick up public posts.
Can it be made to pick up private posts ?
Pleeasssssssssssse
Molty
We have someone working on that right now.
Oooo that'll be marvellous.

Just to let you know my month of October downloaded very well so thanks a lot for this facility...very useful indeed...it did take a while, but just left it to create itself then did the same for the download...thanks again...
Definitely a very interesting feature!
Some things that I've found:
1) If you have a 'read more' link in your post, it isn't picked up in the PDF. Somewhat annoying if you've put one in to try and keep the front page of your blog short and sweet.
2) Too many page breaks. I like that each entry has its own page, but I don't think the comments need to follow suit. Or, indeed, be there at all.
3) The same goes for the author's friends, about the author, and pageviews pages. Seem a bit superfluous.
4) For some reason, my PDF had a blank title page.
I can see this feature coming in very handy for anyone who would like to someday turn their ramblings into a blook.
OK, thanks for your feedback, everything has been noted.
Actually, in response to 1), do you mean that the whole post isn't picked up, or just the extra bit?
Everything after the 'read more'.
Nice one, thank you
Ah, I believe I'm a Founding Member, but the feature doesn't work for me. Would it be possible to make it so, please? I was actually thinking about this kind of feature (not necessarily exporting as .pdf files, but just as .html ones) the other week, so I'm pretty delighted to see it here! Blog.co.uk just gets better and better. Now if a 'tag sorting' feature is created that would make it complete, for me. Also, if the tags were case-sensitive (or at least so they could begin with a capital letter) like they used to be, that'd be nice. But I can't complain.
OK, we're working on getting it up and running for FMs too. Sorry about that.
i just tried out the service - it is excellent, thank you.
it works fine, didn't take too long to download on broadband and is a very useful tool.
ten out of ten!
Brilliant idea.
I know I won a pro last year, but I'm not sure if I was a founder, too - either way, love to have the last couple of years on PDF (if possible).
I'm a bit of a technophobe, though, so expect me to bending Rampage's no doubt clever ear at the Liverpool Blog Meet!
Yikes! I'm only here cos of my linguistic abilities, my techie abilities are rather limited. I just parrot what smarter people say! That said though, I will be available for questioning in the Pool.
That is a bit of a weight of my mind. I just downloaded 20 meg which I would hate to loose. I've emailed it to my Gmail account too in case this computer goes put.
Any further news on Private posts being picked up in a PDF ?
I know you said *points upwards* it was being looked into.
Thank you
Molty
