Dear BCUK bloggers,
As most of you have noticed, there are currently problems with email notifications. These problems are due to the fact that the majority of the biggest email providers, i.e. yahoo, hotmail, and AOL, have blacklisted us as spam.
This is incredibly frustrating, both for all of you out there in blogland and us here in HQ. We are working very hard to get whitelisted again, but this is a very time-consuming process and unfortunately there is no easy short-term solution. We apologise most sincerely, but our hands are well and truly tied. We'll be sure to keep you updated if things change.
The best solution we can offer at the moment is either to change to gmail (the notifications go directly to the spam folder - just unmark it as spam and it should be fine again) or to a smaller email provider. It would be great if the users who are receiving notifications could let us know which providers are working well at the moment.
Also, we'd like to request that users stop posting about this in the HelpBlog - we are all too aware of the issue and the flood of posts about could cause us to react slowly to a new issue.

Some users are also experiencing some slowness on BCUK. There's an FAQ about it and we'd appreciate it if those of you experiencing poor performance would have a look at it here.
Thanks for your patience thus far, we really appreciate it.
Your BCUK team.

Oh, okay, thanks, BCUK...sounds like a pain in the butt for all of us...trouble is...if we do change to a smaller provider and they get inundated with your spam...it could harm them as well...don't know what to do for the best...big hugs...
Has anyone asked the question why "the majority of the biggest email providers, i.e. yahoo, hotmail, and AOL, have blacklisted us as spam."?
Just a thought!
Because our mails have been flagged as spam, presumably by inactive users who didn't delete themselves or change their settings before quitting blog.
But how come it's just happened now - and right across a broad spectrum of providers? Surely bloggers have been leaving without deleting their blogs from day one?
well they do this because they get a couple of thousand mails each second - legitmate mails - as our userbase is growsing constantly it seems, it has reached some limit.
And they dont accept us as bulk mail // or it takes ages to do so, so far they dont even react on our emails/requests/tickets
It shouldn't be an issue, there wouldn't be an enormous volume of mails going to them so they wouldn't see it as spam.

Anybody who sends a large volume of emails can be put into that classification quite easily. Unfortunately the problem of spam is huge. I had to clarify things with my provider, when I was promoting certain events.
My provider only allows 99 or less names on an email-but I find it's more like about 50-and that includes BBC's (undisclosed senders). My question is how are these other sites-like Facebook and others, are able to send the number of emails they do?
My provider: (shaw.ca) seems to be working fine for receiving notifications. But when I go to the notification, there is a problem reading them in the internal mail system-just started happening today. This is what I get instead of a message when I go in, with no link to the private post:
Anyway-just sharing my experience-you guys a doing a great job-keep up the good work!
Well - I like you - so I'll keep on, hanging on. I'll just have to remember every comment I make and count to ten as I browse blogcouk.
I bet you guys are gutted at the problems occurring!
Have a nice day, anyway!
wifey.
I don't know what or if you guys did anything but my 'wifey' blog is working so much faster.
If it was you guys, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou! - XXX

Right, okay, I created a new email account. How do I change it on blog now?
Answer to myself: Done blonde...dohhh!
Still didn't get any emails thought
okay...took your advice and used gmail...set up a new address...added it to my profile and my email notifications started to come directly to my inbox straightaway...no diversion into spam....that's good news isn't it...LOL...hope this helps...big hugs..
blond question...is gmail the same as googlemail? because I've tried and is not working.
Ta
Yes, it is...what do you mean...it's not working?
The email is fine... but I'm not getting any notifications neither. quite sad
Hope they solve the problem.
It's like the end of an era....well, 2 years for me
xx
Have you put the googlemail address in your profile? If you haven't, try going to profile...then click edit profile...go down to email address and put your googlemail address in then go down to the bottom and click on save....sorry if you already know this and have done it already...LOL...check your googlemail afterwards because you should see something coming through after that...
A few haven't got through to me but Googlemail is working absolutely fine now. Just one of those things, not your fault x
No.....new account, googlemail, not working either
Bless each and every one of you. I know you are working hard to resolve all issues.
i have had no problems ..i am with homecall (pipex)
titan adsl has always been fine, but it's not a usual provider that people would use.
Just want to apologise for sending you a mail ablot it. Kev directed me here. So is google mail working or not. My filters make no differenec on hotmail
I was beginning to think I had offended everyone.
Once I opened an account yesterday with
' Dora Mail.com' ('previously unknown to me) I got my notifications thick and fast
Eclipse is working fine for me.
Yeah, but you screw my posts up, and I still can't upload media. You can't blame anyone else for that.
