This week was one of the toughest for us at mokono.
We´ve decided to cut staff significantly today in anticipation of a long-lasting decline in advertising revenues due to the financial crisis at hand. 2009 and 2010 are highly likely to push ad revenues down across the board and in order to ride mokono safely through the hard times to come, we have decided on making one big and painful cut. Now. Not later. And no more before we start hiring again.
This was and still is very hard on all of us. But it is a necessary move to ensure that BCUK will not only be giving people a voice in the future as well, but that BCUK will also see further development and the regular service and support.
We´ve decided to share this with you because we feel you should have an idea of significant developments behind and within BCUK. We´ll do our best to ensure that the differences you will notice with BCUK in the future are improvements.
Very best wishes to you all,
Florian Wilken & Vasco Sommer-Nunes
Managing Directors

Aw crap
... is Rampage still here?
Really sorry guys. you must be gutted xx
Yes, he´s still around and will continue to support BCUK
Phew! Thanks, Vasco. I think he was one of the originals?
Yes. But so were others that will not continue at mokono.
Awww I hope it picks up again soon. We've grown to love you guys
(sorry for sounding so soppy ... it's cos ... I am!)
That’s very sad news.
My company’s making cuts too.
I guess it’s happening everywhere.
Adam ... x
Yes, it is. But it would be worse to belong to the pile of companies that cut too late.
Can't have been an easy decision for you, and it's understandable why it's being forced on you in the current financial climate.
For what it's worth please pass on our thanks to those that are going for their work on the site.
While I'm at it, thanks to the one's who are staying too... I often think we really don't say it enough and it's times like this, when we're reminded it's real people working for our blogsite, we need to remember to express appreciation.
Best wishes and hopes for those leaving.
Thank you. I will pass that on. Your words will be highly appreciated.
Ditto what AJ said
the hardest day
Today I lived through what was one of the hardest days in my life.
Today, for the first time ever, we had to lay people off. 7 people, roughly a third of the workforce. It is an incredibly hard thing to do. People come to work in your company because ...
Tough decision there my friends. Never easy laying off people. Give my regards to all.
Hugs
Am tremendously proud of your efforts all along Florian & Vasco; but am concerned about the current 'spam' attack on comments of late. Yes, those 'wouldn't know a conscience if they had one' cretins have attacked me, again; but they attacked friends so I can no longer tolerate the ignorance.
Help guys, when you can afford to do so too.
Wish this was spam team, but it's fact, sadly. Oh to know what to do.....
(((HUGS))) to all in need! Peace pals.
Vidaloon
Just found the info on your German site - I'm sorry to hear the bad news.
Hope things will get better again - soon! For all of us, especially those you had to make redundant.
good grief you got spam on this post, how cheeky!
Really sorry to hear about this, but you are being sensible and making sure that you can contiue to employ the rest of your staff.
My thanks and thoughts to all those that are leaving.
Hugs
Sad to read that it has been necessary to lose colleagues, I hope that they all find new work quickly. I repeat AJ's sentiment, best wishes to all who are going and those who are staying too.
All good wishes and my thanks to those who will be leaving.
That must have been a hard decision to make.
Best wishes and good luck to those who are having to leave, and thanks to them for all the good work.
Best of luck to all, and commisserations to the guys who had to make the painful decision, too.
It's happened everywhere - my place of work, too. Here's hoping the climb back up again comes sooner rather than later.
Yea, we have a family retail busines and we are feeling it. Hope we can all weather the storm.
I hope you can weather the storm too...
From Iceland and Canada's economic situation, attitude is everything. The two countries respectively in the two extremes.
Sad news yes.
My thanks to Damdam and to the others who are gone too.
or without them both i would quit blogging for sure, as i always feel safe knowing i have Rampage and Damdam by me/us in BCUK, while blogging,
I am really sorry that Damdam is gone, i liked/still like him very much and i wish him ALL the best in the world, my thoughts are with him, positive thoughts and i'm sure he will be OK soon
BTW, i'm pleased that Rampage is with us, he is our guardian-angel as i used to call Damdam and him too, i grow up during these 4 years blogging with Damdam's help and also Rampie's. So about Rampage yes it is a great news in the middle of this sad one.
{{BIG HUGS}} for all the team and All the ones gone, i'l miss them, well, actually i miss Damdam indeed.
And yes Let me happy that Rampie is with us
xxxx
PS: BTW, as it is Xmas week I want to wish you all:

and ALL the BEST for ALL you,
Kiki
